STATUARY, or, SOMEONE'S LOSING THEIR RELIGION.
You wouldn't believe me. If you didn't or if you did and I were wrong, I'd be facing a fine of at least 24,000 euros as a blogger who took her time reporting the truth. Good thing I'm a satirist.On top of which, these are constitutional matters, involving freedom of thought and speech,which inevitably share an international legal connection to all democratic countries, so if one country, such as Italy, claims that the internet is for everyone, then has another politician say well, no, I'll fine bloggers out of their business, what mess will that degenerate?
TREMONTI,
Italia's current rightist Economics Minister is busy shelling Vendola,a member of the opposition party, with threats of a "numbers or/and Greece" approach for a current overhaul of the Health System. The latter has been documented as scandalously misrun and underfunded, enough to press too many prisoners in mental hospitals, overdose them, have women die in childbirth because nearby hospitals could not sustain the birth, and in one case, strap to bed and cut a anal hole to ease torture, not hygiene. Vendola says this won't do, it's not about cuts it's about finacing to relieve the destitution. Tremonti, also responsible for many insults to Italia's southern areas, Vendola being the President of Puglia, a southern region, is also well known for saying that fiscal cuts to opensioners have statistically never met with strikes, so it's an easy piece to play.So he Greece and numbers, Vendola numbers are fine by me as well, Tremonti as a reply, Greeces and numbers again. Greece was in european newspapers in the spring not only for its fiscal and economic crises, but also for the unrest and riots the government's over taxing was producing, with full intevention by the usual anti-riot police corps against students who occupied the university, saying it was state run therefore theirs, and thousands of anarchists were imprisoned. Most of these riots are concerning civil liberties, but I don't hear it much in the Media, or sligthly in people's consciousness here in the States. Wouldn't it encourage soldiers in Afghanistan exposed to suicide vehicles to know that the world is in an uproar, even cops are striking in Italy, and that democrats up for re-election disagree with President Obama claiming that the war effort is not an investment if the risk is outright murder and there is something obscene in sacrificing the lives of even volunteer military types? Which leads us to statuary number two:
SARKOZY, whose wife is plastered all over Rolling Stone for being an ex-model, as if model signified hip, progressive, and au courant by osmosis. Okay, so, Sarkozy. Judges declared some ROM (gypsy) communities in need of exile from France. Sarko, in an effort to go medieval, falls straight on the Inquisions splayer part and flaps the ENTIRE ROM population out of France well, say, by three months. After an immigrant was murdered by the usual anti immigrant cop team, and this along with much else, brought to the current banlieue (suburb in Europe is much like inner city here)riots. Struck by lighting, but then again, statuary, he also is working on denying citizenship to all who strike fight or react against murdering cops in France who are French, while the person being dragged away somewhere is not originally, but then again, only their definitions qualify who is or is not French, I just couldn't.
The question is: where is the currrent Street Fighting Man, and were the sixties and seventies only an intersection of peculiar political-musical talent?
Next white block awardee: THE JEWISH ANTI DEFAMATION LEAGUE,
who nixed the Cordoba initiative on Ground Zero, or a mosque and a progressive mUslim community center in an area that, in their view, would traumatize too many people, which just shows how far removed the organization is from the news, or history for the past decade or more, 40 years, or, since the 80's which is when Fundamentalists began appearing in the media and politically involved groups. We are in Afghanistan, supporting the Afghani, we are for self-determination in voting or what, exactly? Go see Restrepo, at least.
tired of trite, bored by braggadocio, left and right puzzle alike? here.s a social satire and culture blog testing strained ethics all pre2010 posts stolen. IT'S IN RHINEBECK! IT'S IN RHINEBECK!
Hillary Clinton, in an effort to refurbish her daughter's Rhinebeck New York hope chest, thought of intimidating North Korea from up close. More bans on atomic proliferation, then, sedated,she thought better of it and commented saying that the war, for heaven's sake, was to expand from Rhinebeck to atomic warheads, to just plain old assets of the country's. This reported to The New York Times as a strategy.

BERSANI AT SAN CONO DA TEGGIANO IN WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN,NEW YORK CITY, TONIGHT BEING JULY 17, 2010. END, SUMMER. PLEASE END.
There's no uploading photos, due to the nth heath wave I think, but may be wrong. All I know is that this summer is a sweaty, depleting mess I could live without comfortably. Every cell in my body is screaming "ENOUGH!" and I even take breaks going home in subway to subway transfer by ejecting at the transfer point to sit in air conditioning and order a beer. Or two. The red star on the label intrigues me.
Tonight I almost cried at an intonation, Italian. How is it that Bersani's visit wasn't even considered for a The New York Times write-up since we're (I say 'we're' incidentally, and as an 'American' it also applies, to these 'Italian', 'American' as appurtenances) G7, G8, etcetera countries, and an, overall, planting seed of Europeanhood (don't you DARE look at me). Anyway, my point is, how is it that a country important internationally, with a Secretary of a Party who was a Minister and will in the future not have the The (New York Times) take an interest? On top of which it was a little more than a social occasion since it actually presented petitions to be signed, and US platforms on Italia, and what is cooking (oh, unfortunate term) in the country. A mystery.
More tomorrow.
Tomorrow.
Did you know that children born in Italy from immigrant parents at 18 will be considered officially clandestine thanks to the current government and the Bossi-Fini Law which Bersani and the Left is in Opposition to? Unless the law is repealed as anti-constitutional. All the people of the Saint Cono association were adamant on ridiculing this leghista business. Aren't Italian Americans supposed to be racist? One man intervened saying that such policies against one immigrant were against all immigrants meaning these laws would apply to all of us in the future, since it is only racism, legalized for the moment. Think of Arizona. There is also a danger in demonizing Italia and Italians but where has Media coverage been when current recent college graduate and non unemployment rates in Sardegna are 50% and the Bossi Fini law was passed? One of the requests presented to Bersani were Italian citizenship for Italian-American immigrants.The 1992-1997 law,allowed them to aquire citizenship thanks to parents and grandparents being Italian born.
Oh, speaking of Media coverage, the new battle cry from this government which is never in parliament is to stop all funding of publishing AND it wants ALL money assigned in past REFUNDED.
A new 21st century politics is unfolding. One that is facing a federalist tide in which local politics and independence mean for internationalizing efforts like Bersani's needing to assert equal rights of citizenship for the entire country,let alone for people from other countries. Italia is to stay united, from Calabria to Emilia Romagna. Southern Italia has always been a site of racist hatred by the north,now to these new extremes.
The current govenment continues to deny facts and enforces a conformity of behavior, a conformity enforced even recently by threats of punches able to superman a particular politician's teeth out should there be any objections. Bersani mentioned this climate, and it's been also reported in Italian press: even the Minister of Defense La Russa slapped one of his interlocutors, and no one can get a word in edgewise during television studio interviews, except them. The Secretary of the PD also sees Berlusconismo at its twilight but warns against believing that the Right, as Berlusconi's, will disappear suddenly. He did reiterate that the current crisis is an economic and democratic one.
The politician made the entire audience aware also that the Italian fiscal system is currently meant to overtax the lower classes, middle, families, and small businesses and workers. Disability checks had been cut so it brought a demonstration of people in wheelchairs to Rome; more cuts on education are planned, and more of these cuts are planned for the latest need to recuperate an ill spent 24 billion. The same tradition of dipping in the pockets of the poor and middle classes was re-declared.
Bersani also spoke of the political climate he found in Washington D.C. which intends to procede in cuts against small businesses, in this case, with ties to Italia. Here are the numbers:
In 2008 the U.S. cut 38% in assistance;
In 2009 25%;
In 2010 50.
It doesn't bide well for Afghanistan, doesn't economically, and the United Nations was officially invited to create a connection between the G20 and other countries so that the latter would not be subject to the former's absolutist decisions.
Bersani also mentioned how this visit at the San Cono club was a means to stay in touch with the people, and that the PD was a popular party.
In conjunction loccal matters were brought forth: Berlusconi's government decided to close or try to close more consolates, the most outrageous being in Detroit, after the Chrysler FIAT deal brought more workers from Italia. The waits are long because of cuts to necessary personnel as is. Another consulate in threat is Philadelphia's. This was introduced by local groups and Bersani took note, just as he did concerning a cut in the Comites an organization run by voters for voting.

THE SOUTHERN ITALIAN AS NIGGER AND MONEY CHARGED TO GOVERNMENTAL ANTI-COUP AGENCY USED BY EX-MINISTER FOR FAUCET REPAIR WORK AND A VIEW OF THE COLOSSEUM
From la Repubblica 7 14 2010. Politica section.
Photo of a 'younger' Silvio Berlusconi from OGGI, an Italian gossip weekly.
"Perugia's police investigations have ascertained that expenses for home improvement in ex-Minister Claudio Scajola's home were billed by businessman Diego Anemone as work done on one SISDE location for a governmental contract."
Gianluca Luzi.la Repubblica. First page. July 14, 2010
What needs to be known is:
SISDE is the Italian equivalent to the C.I.A. and has supposedly investigated the responsibility in a 1970's coup d'etat of a secret society lodge, the P2, named after a gun. The P2 evolved in the P3, with Cosentino and Senator Dell'Utri as members, violating the Anselmi law which prohibits secret society affiliation of any government member.
The atmosphere is rife as rot: National Italian news is overstuffed with interviews of recent high school graduates from what one could compare to prep schools readying for a law or governmental or literary career choosing to open a bakery in Greece instead, or secretaries earning 1400 euro a month and having two children to support and medical expenses as well. There are reportages quoting the going rate even for medical and engineering careers as recent college graduates at 1200 to 1700 euro a month. The Minister of Economy Tremonti detailed with not the slightest qualm how state moneys were syphoned off by Southern Italians and now lusts after whatever pension plans are received by Italians claiming it may be easy since they don't strike as a group, and Bossi, leader of the Northern Lega, a notorious racist rightist party, is declaring how he'll move ministries up north to give his own jobs ,with Maroni a Lega politician who can't stop spewing uncontrollably on the arrests of Southern Italian criminals, but why?
The U.N. slaps them with a no gag law or only with emendments and a mission in the future from Frank La Rue, who is affiliated to the Council for Human Rights in Geneva. After the Foreign Minister Frattini declares himself strongly upset and surprised, the U.N. claims La Rue an independent, and Berlusconi, not able to shut up, at the 30th anniversary of Capital, the magazine, claims all Southern Italians illiterate and Tunisians, so they should be little bother for the gag law:
"In our parts 86 dailies are sold for every 1,000 people, in Europe 250, in Sweden 500, in Southern Italy 56: the same exact amount sold in Tunis."
Then concerning the P2 ties, and its P3 evolution:
"They're a couple of retired losers that got together to change Italy...but if even I haven't been able to."

400 Prospect Park geese were herded during molting and gassed to death with carbon dioxide to keep airspace clear at least 7 miles from airports after the terrorist attack to a U.S. Airways flight in January 2009 by an immigrant goose from Canada. All this with federal commendation, post-facto, and announced only then by spokesman, Carol A. Bannerman.
Susan Elbin, a conservation director for Audubon supported the euthanasia, since Town and Country is declaring spaying a viable means to animal charity, eventually.
Last year 1,235 geese were murdered in 17 areas, all this with the go ahead of the Federal Agriculture Department Wildlife and its biologists and technicians.
China years past had a similar take on sparrows, mostly, and murdered millions of birds. After the ornithological population had been decimated, the result was a show of force by forlorn insects. The geese in Prospect park were also purposely fed by some visitors to the area. Others simply stuck arrows in their necks if up close, lacking nails or other implements.
The latest gassing fed landfills. Elsewhere dead gassed geese become food or animal feed.

ENTIRE ITALIAN DIPLOMATIC CORP ON STRIKE JULY 26TH: CURRENT GOVERNMENT POLICY TO DISMANTLE ITALIAN REPUBLIC AND REASSEMBLE IT IN A NORTHERN LEAGUE NORTH FOR RACIST FAVORITISM.
HALL OF FLAN: ITALY'S PREMIER, BERLUSCONI:
HIS LATEST STATEMENT, TO AMBASSADORS AT THE EUROMED CONFERENCE:
"the ambassadors, the representatives of those countries facing the Mediterranean should bring along beautiful women as well. We'd appreciate it because we're Latin." And playboys. " Not me-he specifies, laughing-I'm only 'a playold'. But a possible chase matters, for aesthetics' sake"

The most recent earthquake in L'Aquila brought the people from the city to Roma on July 7, 2010, to demonstrate for housing, work, public transportation,and assistance and to unite with other demonstrations before the Italian version of the House of Representatives,la Camera. The police and military charged the demonstrators who were the equivalent of the earthquake victims in Haiti. Vincenzo Benedetti left his bloodied hand prints on a bank's wall in Via del Corso, saying "Look at the blood of a person from L'Aquila-I'm guilty of being an earthquake survivor"
in America Oggi, July 8, 2010, p.5. "Marcia, tensione e tafferugli" Melania Di Giacomo.
A new law is being discussed as to prohibit public access to information vital for the electoral process, against which the Media struck;
A new law concerning internment in psychiatric facilities is in the works, which would:
Extend hospital stays to a month, now the current week in centers;
Force a person to follow a health regimen to the very end even if unwilling to do so after beginning;
Open psychiatric institutions again versus the current small centers for the differently abled.
President Obama did not visit Italia after the L'Aquila earthquake or issue a statement although the disaster was reported in the news;
At a recent visit to Italia he told Berlusconi how De Sica, Rossellini (okay, Neorealism) and the idiosyncratic light in Tuscany captured his heart, and then dropped a let United Europe accept Turkey in its government, thinking of the area not as countries per se, but as a continental NATO base gone wild. Michelle Obama, wearing her bright yellow number received a whirling arm welcome by Berlusconi himself, impressed by the First Lady's attire as a witness to her seductive charms.
