FEDERAL FUNDS FOR JOB TRAINING AT RISK. The New York Times reports that the amount contributed by the Federal government to job training programs was 2.1 billion a year, in a country that currently has 12.7 million job searchers. For two years the stimulus plan contributed 1.5 billion, bringing the total up to 3.6 billion. Then funds were reduced to 1.2 billion. In the meantime, the new presidential budget wants to allocate 2.8 billion, still a loss from the stimulus year amounts that already is affecting many who are being turned down for assistance due to lack of funds.
