Still chasing after bread-crumbs, after agreeing to freeze Social Security cost of living increases for a two year period, while the price of a carton of eggs, a loaf of bread, hald a gallon of milk,and orange juice all increased to 4-5 dollars, now the Republican's plan "Pledge to America" wants to privatize Social Security, as if it were the solution to all fiscal malaises.
Many recipients are disabled, not only retirees. Again, it targets the weaker in society to harm them even more.

BERLUSCONI DOES IT AGAIN! Here is an ad to take pride in keeping illegal immigrants out of Italy. In the meantime, Giovanardi, the current government's under-secretary of Family is declaring that gay couples adopting children show a higher incidence of being part of a ped-porn circuit. And, to prove that illegal expulsions are racist, Berlusconi backed Sarkozy's latest shedding off of France's ROM population, which European Government's Viviane Reding declared " a shame". Vice President of the Commission for Human Rights, she mentioned that not since Hitler had there been a persecution focusing on the Rom in Europe. Those ejected had some criminal record, and their camps were demolished.For Sarkozy and Berlusconi, these were internal matters for both countries, France and Italy, should the latter decide to continue to bother the Rom. They rely on statehood in this case: this from a premier backing Bossi, a Lega politician who doesn't consider Italy a country or Roma the nation's capital and plans on moving everything up north, to give jobs to his followers and dissolve Italian unity to favor lega federalist policies.

Unites States Custom and Border Protection has issued another pamphlet as to where and how illegal immigrants hide to blend in with the populace. Most amass at street corners, in schools, out of schools, in supermarkets and at the local Cineplex, if not at the beach, vulnerable areas within the social fabric. Their key decoy is apparent citizenship, but overall, their short dark looks are a dead giveaway that the entire country is targeted by this so called Mexican take over plot. At first these people will claim their name is Sanchez, then call themselves Wilson, in an effort to befuddle those they work for and to send them in for a psych evaluation. While the boss is gone, they will throw parties to fund raise and celebrate their own systemic invasion of American soil.

Ground Zero Muslim Center replaced by a hot dog stand
After weeks of contentiousness, the downtown Muslim Center is being substituted by a hot dog stand to please both sides. "We ascertained the hot dogs would be all beef and kosher" said a proponent of Obama's what-were-they-thinking-of approach to the Center's problem. Another out of towner, who included Ground Zero as a visitor's stop on her city tour, said: "It's so much better this way: it's a pause that refreshes on an otherwise busy tour schedule. I always feed my french poodle some as a quick meal on the go". Last I calculated I need at least 400 dollars a month to eat nutritionally sound food, and the food stamp maximum is 200 a month. If you call Human Resource Administration, the recording has the grace to say that food stamps help with food purchases, but when the rent assistance maximum is about 500, I'd like to know where these families live and shop. It's not in New York: a gallon of milk still without magnesium needed for calcium absorption but with the latter mineral, phosphorus and vitamin D is 4 dollars a half gallon, and you need three cups a day. On top of which vitamin and mineral supplements are full of phosphates, banned from sale in this state as in many others, and insoluble micro materials which can accumulate internally, if not aluminum, found in high concentrations in Alzheimer harmed people. What the hell are they thinking of?

James Fisher is named in a murder by another and sentenced to death with the help of two defense attorneys, one E. Melvin Porter, anti-gay at the time, and Johnny Albert who actually threatens Mr. Fisher's life, mind clouded with too much cocaine. The third attorney, Mr. Hudson, is the clincher-breaker and frees Mr. Fisher after he pleads guilty, since the new law requires a plea from death row inmates, leading to freedom but banishment from the state of Oklahoma. Now he's in a re-entry program sustained by Alabama's Equal Justice Initiative.

WHY WIKILEAKS WHEN YOU CAN FROLICK IN FLIM FLAM?
Pentagon officials are requesting Wikileaks cease publishing war documents and go away while they lower the civilian death count in Helman province to 6 (39 instead) and have President Obama support mental health, suicide hotlines and help for soldiers who are facing a rise in suicides comparable to those occurred in the Vietnam war, but does not send letters of condolescence to who had taken their lives, such as to Gregg Keesling, father of Chancellor and to Kevin and Joyce Lucey, parents of Jeffrey?

GENE RUFFINI
Author of 2 books, multiple magazine articles, poems and plays, one of the latter collected in an anthology of Italian American authors to be published this October.
He sent me 4 poems to publish on this blog, and I present you with them all. The first two are an ontological key to understand life, the latter in function of migration and labor, patriotism, and war.
AGE
when old hopes are lost
life can begin again
a chance unseen by most
though a new way is open
they are smote by defeat
unwilling to fight
though hearts still beat
to place day over night
You can struggle in the bog of time
or forget and start anew
cutting memory's strangling vine
shouting you are never through
while blood runs and the years beckon
with fresh prizes to be taken.
DEATH
Death may be expected or no
even invited by some,
but always with sorrow in tow
a dark emptiness unwelcome
And loss becomes just memories
sights and sounds within the mind
of what will never again be
therefore of cold death be resigned
think not of its finality
but do frolic fully in love,
of flesh and festivity
life's here not below or above
There is nothing after the end
so waste not the journey there
but on joy and bliss depend
and with a lover curtain cares
of razored rocks, blows and tears
and steep mountains you must climb
til death comes at the end of years
or at the appointed time.

A lone traveler at sixteen
His kin in Italy forever missed

examinations, questions ever more
on money, health, lessons learned and unlearned
He came here with only twenty dollars
five less than the sum required
and clothing hardly more than those he wore
but there was work and he had been hired
He labored Day One in America
Always with aching back and bone
A man of strong will and hard character
Who left his name inscribed in stone
Uncle Sam
Uncle Sam siren summons young men and young women,
to save we who are so good from those who are evil,
to fight in strange streets or fetid jungles near Phnom Penh,
and lose life and limb in a dark world of upheaval.
But Uncle Sam has a corporate belly of greed,
and lies to send youth to suffer and die in false war
blown up by bombs or sliced by bullets and who then bleed
so that those who already have can get more and more.

STATUARY, or, SOMEONE'S LOSING THEIR RELIGION.
You wouldn't believe me. If you didn't or if you did and I were wrong, I'd be facing a fine of at least 24,000 euros as a blogger who took her time reporting the truth. Good thing I'm a satirist.On top of which, these are constitutional matters, involving freedom of thought and speech,which inevitably share an international legal connection to all democratic countries, so if one country, such as Italy, claims that the internet is for everyone, then has another politician say well, no, I'll fine bloggers out of their business, what mess will that degenerate?

Italia's current rightist Economics Minister is busy shelling Vendola,a member of the opposition party, with threats of a "numbers or/and Greece" approach for a current overhaul of the Health System. The latter has been documented as scandalously misrun and underfunded, enough to press too many prisoners in mental hospitals, overdose them, have women die in childbirth because nearby hospitals could not sustain the birth, and in one case, strap to bed and cut a anal hole to ease torture, not hygiene. Vendola says this won't do, it's not about cuts it's about finacing to relieve the destitution. Tremonti, also responsible for many insults to Italia's southern areas, Vendola being the President of Puglia, a southern region, is also well known for saying that fiscal cuts to opensioners have statistically never met with strikes, so it's an easy piece to play.So he Greece and numbers, Vendola numbers are fine by me as well, Tremonti as a reply, Greeces and numbers again. Greece was in european newspapers in the spring not only for its fiscal and economic crises, but also for the unrest and riots the government's over taxing was producing, with full intevention by the usual anti-riot police corps against students who occupied the university, saying it was state run therefore theirs, and thousands of anarchists were imprisoned. Most of these riots are concerning civil liberties, but I don't hear it much in the Media, or sligthly in people's consciousness here in the States. Wouldn't it encourage soldiers in Afghanistan exposed to suicide vehicles to know that the world is in an uproar, even cops are striking in Italy, and that democrats up for re-election disagree with President Obama claiming that the war effort is not an investment if the risk is outright murder and there is something obscene in sacrificing the lives of even volunteer military types? Which leads us to statuary number two:

The question is: where is the currrent Street Fighting Man, and were the sixties and seventies only an intersection of peculiar political-musical talent?

who nixed the Cordoba initiative on Ground Zero, or a mosque and a progressive mUslim community center in an area that, in their view, would traumatize too many people, which just shows how far removed the organization is from the news, or history for the past decade or more, 40 years, or, since the 80's which is when Fundamentalists began appearing in the media and politically involved groups. We are in Afghanistan, supporting the Afghani, we are for self-determination in voting or what, exactly? Go see Restrepo, at least.
