400 Prospect Park geese were herded during molting and gassed to death with carbon dioxide to keep airspace clear at least 7 miles from airports after the terrorist attack to a U.S. Airways flight in January 2009 by an immigrant goose from Canada. All this with federal commendation, post-facto, and announced only then by spokesman, Carol A. Bannerman.

Susan Elbin, a conservation director for Audubon supported the euthanasia, since Town and Country is declaring spaying a viable means to animal charity, eventually.

Last year 1,235 geese were murdered in 17 areas, all this with the go ahead of the Federal Agriculture Department Wildlife and its biologists and technicians.

China years past had a similar take on sparrows, mostly, and murdered millions of birds. After the ornithological population had been decimated, the result was a show of force by forlorn insects. The geese in Prospect park were also purposely fed by some visitors to the area. Others simply stuck arrows in their necks if up close, lacking nails or other implements.

The latest gassing fed landfills. Elsewhere dead gassed geese become food or animal feed.
